Connect Career to Campus (CCC) is an initiative launched by the Kerala Knowledge Economy Mission (KKEM) to enhance the employability of students by identifying opportunities and needs in various industrial and employment sectors in conjunction with their academic studies. This program is now being extended to both aided and self-financed colleges. Its main objectives are to provide students with an understanding of the job prospects associated with their chosen courses, explore suitable job opportunities on a global scale, and develop essential linguistic skills, personality traits, and interview techniques that align with the changing work culture.
Connect Career to Campus 2022
Connect Career to Campus 2022 witnessed the registration of 1,49,000 students from 914 higher education institutions in the Digital Workforce Management System (DWMS). These students actively participated in diverse training programs aimed at enhancing their employability. Traditionally, campus placements were limited to students from selected colleges with outstanding academic merits. The KKEM introduced a special campaign known as Kerala Skills Express, which focused on 239 chosen higher education institutions and successfully shortlisted 19,416 students through various campus recruitment drives, with 1,704 of them receiving offer letters for placement opportunities.
Connect Career to Campus 2023
In Connect Career to Campus 2023, students from higher education institutions can register for CCC-2023 and utilize the Knowledge Economy Mission's DWMS platform to apply for job opportunities and receive necessary training for free. This project also aims to connect students with major employers across various industries and companies, providing them with necessary training through the Recruit Train Deploy (RTD) approach. CCC-2023 strives to prepare students for new world jobs, including remote opportunities and academic work models at the global level, while enhancing their employability index in collaboration with educational institutions.
DWMS Connect mobile app
The DWMS Connect mobile app offers various services, including 'Psychometric Test & Career Counseling' to assess job seekers' skills and guide them towards suitable jobs based on their qualifications and aptitudes. It provides a 'Work Readiness Program' to train students on interview techniques and confidence-building, along with Personality Development Training to improve workplace communication, teamwork, and professional skills, especially in English language proficiency. The app also offers the 'British Council English Score Test and Certification' for self-practice and improvement of English language skills. Moreover, students can access skills development training, including courses in IT, ITES, blockchain, artificial intelligence, and fintech, to enhance their job prospects.
These activities will be conducted under the leadership of the placement cells in college campuses, with the support of IEDC, ASAP, YIP clubs, and the Employed Alumni Group. Various workshops, career clinics, discussions with employers, webinars, internship fairs, and hackathons will be organized as part of CCC-2023. All job-seeking students will be given opportunities for employment through campus recruitment drives. For students unable to secure a job after graduation, they can continue learning new skill courses in their areas of interest and apply for job opportunities through the DWMS Connect mobile app. Follow-up activities will also be carried out to provide necessary support for job placement.
College clusters
The colleges will be divided into two clusters: Technical Educational Institutions (Engineering Colleges under KTU and other Technical Educational Institutions under Technical Directorate) and Arts & Science Colleges. Each college will have a committee headed by the Principal as Chairperson and Placement Coordinator as Convener. CCC activities will be planned and implemented by these committees, with support from career ambassadors, who are students selected to assist coordinators in project implementation and DWMS Connect App registration and services. Talent Curation Executives (TCE) appointed by KKEM will support colleges in carrying out these activities.
The KKEM Employability Index of each student will be calculated based on various indicators, including: DWMS services including personal development and language skills training provided to students at each campus, industry acclimatization activities, webinars, number of students participating in these, special activities conducted at each college to connect campus, industry and employers, number of students participating in online off-line placement drive conducted by the institution and KKEM cluster ,and the number of offer letter recipients. Based on the scores obtained from these indicators for the final year students of each college and those participating in activities registered in DWMS, the best colleges in three categories (Engineering Colleges, Polytechnics, and Arts & Science) that lead in the Colleges-KKEM Employability Index will be ranked, listed, and honored for their exceptional efforts in preparing students for the job market and enhancing their employability.
