Kerala Medical Service Corporation (KMSCL) is providing Asha first aid kits to Asha workers during the fever season. The aim of distributing the kits is to enable Asha workers to provide first aid at the field level in case of emergencies and to transport individuals to the nearest health facility if necessary.

There are 26,125 Asha workers in the state. The kit contains 10 items, including Paracetamol Tablets, Paracetamol Syrup, Albendazole, Iron Folic Acid Tablets, ORS Packets, Povidone Iodine Ointment, Povidone Iodine Lotion, Band-Aids, Cotton Rolls, and Digital Thermometers. In the event of an emergency, referral staff will direct patients to the nearest public health center or family health center after administering the initial dose of medication.

Asha workers are provided with guidelines on dosage and how to use the medication. The first aid kits are distributed to health institutions through KMSCL. Stocks should be replenished when there is a shortage of items in the kit by contacting the respective health institutions.
