With the rollout of the four-year degree program in the state, the higher education department has issued new guidelines regarding college working hours. According to the order, college councils can determine their six-hour working day, which can be scheduled between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm. Teachers are required to be present on campus for six hours each day, including a one-hour lunch break. Currently, classes are held in five one-hour sessions.
Under the new guidelines, colleges have the flexibility to extend class durations by up to one hour if necessary. The standard class hours are from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. The order also stipulates that unscheduled holidays should be substituted with additional working days. If a holiday is declared by the Collector, the State Government, or the college itself, the class should be held before the end of the semester. Additionally, the order mandates that online classes continue according to the timetable if a long holiday is declared due to events such as relief camps or election duties. Order
