Entered public life from student days onwards. Served as Secretary, K.S.U, Ernakulam City; District President, K.S.U; N.S.U.I. National Committee Member; Chairman, St.Alberts’ College Union; Executive Committee Member, Kerala University Union; General Secretary, Ernakulam D.C.C; Elected to Cochin Corporation Council in 1988 and was Leader of Opposition. Was Minister of Fisheries, Sports, Airport and Welfare of Minorities in 12th K.L.A.

Was closely associated with Santhosh Trophy Football Tournament held at Cochin in 1973; Member, Organising Committee of Nehru Gold Cup in 1983 and Santhosh Trophy Football at Cochin in 1993. Was Chairman of Organising Committee of Santhosh Trophy Football at Cochin in 2005; was Member, District Sports Council Ernakulam. Took active role in constructing the first Synthetic Track in Kerala at Maharajas’ College Grounds, Ernakulam. Life member; Rajiv Gandhi Sports Centre, Cochin and Dakshin Bharatha Hindi Prachar Sabha.

Now Member, K.P.C.C. Executive and A.I.C.C.

Previously elected to K.L.A. in 1991, 1996, 2001 and 2009 (by election from Ernakulam).
