Organisational Structure
Directorate
Director
of Urban Affairs is the head of the Department with his
headquarters at Thiruvananthapuram. The Director is assisted
in the discharge of his duties by the Joint Director (General),
Joint Director (Health), Law Officer, Finance Officer Administrative
Assistant Provident Fund Officer Pension Administration
and establishment matters of the department as well as the
Kerala Municipal Common Service. He has got charge of overall
supervision of the Directorate. He is also functioning as
the Vigilance Officer of the Department.
The Joint Director (Health) supervises the health and sanitation
activities of the urban local bodies, renders advises to
the Director as regards the improvements and innovations
to be made in the fields of public health, sanitation, prevention
of food adulteration and urban basic service activities
in the urban bodies in the State.
Scheme
and provident fund scheme for municipal employees administered
by the department.
Law
Officer assists and advises the Director in the legal matters
and attends to work connected with legal drafting and O.P.
cases.
The
Provident Fund Officer is concerned with the administration
of the Central Provident Fund Scheme of municipal employees.
The Central Provident Fund scheme started functioning in
12/1981.
Administrative
Assistant assists the Director and the Joint Director in
the establishment matters of the department and also controls
the staff and administer discipline of office.
The
Pension Officer is concerned with the administration of
pension scheme of municipal employees (regular). The Pension
Scheme started functioning on 1-10-91.
The
other staff subordinate to the above officers assists the
superiors in all respect for the smooth and effective discharge
of the duties and functions assigned to the department.
The
Directorate is housed in the Public Office Building and
Functions in two separate portions where as the provident
Fund wing and Pension Wing are located in a rented building
in the Corporation campus (as annexe) owned by the Corporation
Council, Thiruvananthapuram for want of sufficient accommodation
in the main office.

The
department has department are located at Kollam, Kochi
and Kozhikode under the charge of a Regional Joint Director.
The Regional Joint Director is assisted by a Senior Superintendent
Jr. Supdt. CA and other subordinate staff.
