About us

            The law Department is a distinct entity with in the Secretariat. The business of the Department is accomplished by the Secretary to the Government assisted by other Officials of the Department. The Law Department is generally guided by the procedure laid down in the Secretariat Manual in its functioning; but taking into account the Special nature of the work in the Department sometimes procedure marginally different is adopted in respect of certain items of work in the Department. This is consummated in accordance with the provisions contained in the Kerala Law Department manual.

            Subject  wise, the Department is functioning as Law (Administration), Law(legislation), Law (Opinion), Law (Suits), Law (Publication), Law (Translation), Law (Inspection), Law (Parliamentary), Law (Monitoring Cell), Law (Notaries), Law (Unified Special Cell), Law (Library), Law (Records) and Law (Nodal).

Location : This Department is edified in the Main block of the Secretariat which is in the Southern side of the Durbar Hall.
